review on Hotel Bergs Riga profile at Facebook.com
I have stayed at Hotel Bergs on many occasions in 2006 and 2007 - probably on about 15 seperate trips. It is by far the best hotel in Riga and I would not stay anywhere else. The rooms are huge - even the studios are very big and the prices are very very reasonable indeed. The decor of the hotel is luxurious and it lives up to the boutique image you would expect.
All the staff are very friendly and always looked after me - very polite, attentive and smart. The one noticeable thing about the hotel is how uniform and sleek everything is. It is clean and symmetrical and very modern, with some great art and paintings. It is a fantastically well designed building and it is very light and open - also very quiet and peaceful. I could also thoroughly recommend the excellent restaurant. The food is exquisite and the menu is interesting - it is in my view a great competitor for Vincents.
In summary, I am so glad that Hotel Bergs was the first place I ever stayed in Riga, because it made every subsequent trip very easy - I knew immediately that this is where I would always stay. And, I receive a Christmas card every year from the hotel, which is much appreciated.
I am also very honoured to be the first person to review Hotel Bergs on Facebook.

“Quite, essential, luxury”
comment at TripAdvisor.com
The hotel is located in a very silent area, close to the old town. People of the hotel are very nice and customer oriented, Rooms are great, full of confort, clean, huge. The standard is very high and the ratio quality/price is absolutely fair. The only suggestion could be to provide for free the parking to the customers.

“Wonderful hotel” comment at TripAdvisor.com
We just got back from our stay at this lovely hotel. We booked a loft suite and it certainly did not disappoint. Two bathrooms, a kitchenette with no trouble making room for our goods without the annoying "pay if you take anything out". Large upstairs bedroom with our pick of pillows, we got a pillow menu and all got a great night sleep, a TV both upstairs and downstairs, a DVD player and we could get DVDs from the lobby. Fluffy bathrobes, slippers, towels, everything in one room we could wish for. In fact, we just did not want to leave the room at all.
But when we did, the lobby was very helpful; we were never any trouble for them it seemed. The hotel is located just a few minute walk from the old town and inside a Bazaar of shops, mainly galleries and shops. Also short walk to the grand market and that is worth a look.
And as a last word, another plus for the hotel. They allowed us a very late check out, no questions asked (my child was sick) and it saved the day. I very highly recommend a stay in this charming hotel.

“Modern design, stacks of space” comment at TripAdvisor.com
I have stayed at this hotel regularly on business trips.
I love the fact the rooms are really big, the beds are huge and have fabulous linen. They have Sony Bravia flatscreen TVs and a small DVD library and also a small kitchenette.
The colors are muted and tasteful and the rooms makes you feel at home, away from home. Am loving the dark stationed wooden floors!
The building is a beautifully renovated old building next to the cute Bergs bazaar, with a regular slow-food market on Saturdays.
The food in the restaurant is excellent and good wines are available.
The staff is probably better than you will find in most hotels in Riga, however they are the weakest link... pretty slow, not proactive... but that is nothing new for anyone who travels in Central and Eastern Europe regularly!!

“Pleasantly surprised!” comment at TripAdvisor.com
We travelled to Riga for a special occasion, and found this hotel reviewed on the Tripadvisor website. We were very happy with every aspect of our stay. The staff were all very friendly, and helpful. The hotel is within approx 5-10 min walk of the Old Town and Central Markets. We had a Loft Suite (there were 3 of us in my party), and there was ample room! Upstairs had 2 double beds, a huge closet space and bathroom. Downstairs was a functional kitchen, and huge living area (we even had a balcony that overlooked a lovely courtyard.) There was also plenty of windows, which flooded the room in natural light.
There was also a laundry room which guests could use, which was very handy!!
This hotel would be fantastic for both short and long stays.
The hotel and room were in excellent condition. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and would stay here again.

“Nice area; good location” comment at TripAdvisor.com
My wife and I stayed at Hotel Bergs over the New Year period. Hotel itself is in a lovely location, nice cobbled area, quaint little shops; near to the main train station for trains further afield, and large department store - Stokmanns.
Due to dietary restrictions, we had booked a room with a ′kitchen′ and confirmed by email with the hotel, that there would be cooking facilities. However, when we arrived we were shown to a very nice room, with what they call a ′wet bar′ - the area where you would have been able to cook had there been facilities to do so - there was nothing, not even a microwave or cutlery. When we complained, we were given a loft suite, which was very nice, however still only had two ring hob and a microwave, with limited cooking utensils.
Bathroom was lovely, some nice touches, however the underfloor heating got very hot - we had to lay a towel on the floor to walk on it.
Staff were courteous, some more so than others - as always in hotels.
Some noise from functions going on in the upstairs function-room, and also the adjacent bar.
Easy, pleasant walk to Riga Old Town, nice park area and river.

“Excellent all rounder” comment at TripAdvisor.com
First time in Riga and had seen previous reviews on this hotel. The service and attention to detail in this hotel is first class. Our bedroom was an excellent size with a balcony and had all the little extras you would expect from a 4* hotel. We were also on the top floor right next to the gym and the Sauna, which on every occasion we had to ourselves. The hotel boasts an excellent chef who creates masterpieces for a very reasonable price. The location of the hotel is perfect as it is not far from the old town and right next to the rail and bus stations should you wish to venture further.

Thank you for a wonderful stay during our mother-in-low 60th birthday in late November. Your service is really one of a kind, and the suites are absolutely fabulous; they include all what you might need during a hotel stay and with a luxurious touch to every detail.
Thank you very much and hope to visit you soon again.

Everything is wonderful – we don’t want to leave. Good quality equipment and furnishings make it really stylish. The fact that breakfast is being served until 11 and check out is at 12, means our stay was really relaxing.

I am writing to express my absolute gratitude for the exceptional two nights my partner and I enjoyed at Hotel Bergs on the 2nd and 3rd of September, 2005. We booked at very short notice but felt the room we were assigned was superb and everything was as I hoped. The care and attention which was displayed both in the rooms and throughout the hotel made the trip highly memorable. The only suggestion I could possible make would be the addition of a pool.
I would particularly like to thank the front of house team who when informed my partners bag had been lost by British Airways, went above what was expected and continued (and successfully managed) to try and contact the baggage team at the airport even though we ourselves had been unsuccessful on numerous occasions.
I will certainly be recommending the hotel and the city to friends in the future.

Thank you for a most pleasant stay at your hotel in Riga. When I go back to Riga for business or holiday I would make your hotel my first choice. All the rest of the travel party also enjoyed your hotel very much. The service from your staff I found very good with high international standards. Always trying to give a solution to every challenge presented.

I spent two fantastic days (and nights) in your hotel in Riga. I must admit it was very convenient to have organized the whole Rely Martin events in the same and beautiful place.
The room was just incredible! As I travel a lot, it would be so relaxing and pleasant to spend more time in such a room...
Thank you very much for the “chocolate gifts” they were very well appreciated...
Hope to meet you during my next stay in your country.
